Brothers Roofing and Construction is a family-owned roofing and construction company serving Columbus and Central Ohio. The company was founded in 2011 and is led by owner Bill Schmidt, who brings more than 25 years of roofing experience.
We specialize in residential and commercial roofing, siding, and windows and doors, and as a full-service general contractor we also build porches, patios and decks, and handle gutters, chimneys, concrete, hardscaping and painting. We work on homes, from early-1900s houses in Columbus's older neighborhoods to newer subdivisions in the suburbs around it.
What we believe
Your home is usually your most valuable asset, and a roof or exterior project is a big decision. We listen first, show you what we find with photos, and tell you straight what we'd do if it were our own house, including when a repair will do and a replacement isn't needed. Estimates are free and come in writing.
From the first call to the final cleanup
- The first call. Call (614) 436-5588 or use our estimate form. We're available Monday through Saturday, 7AM to 7PM, and usually get back to you the same business day.
- A free inspection. We come out, get on the roof, take photos and measurements, and check the flashing, vents, gutters and attic.
- A written estimate. We go through what we found and what we recommend, with the materials and what's included written down. Financing through Hearth is available if it helps, subject to credit approval.
- The work. On a roof replacement we tear off down to the deck, replace damaged boards, and install the full system to the manufacturer's specifications.
- Cleanup and close-out. We haul away the old materials, sweep the yard and driveway with a magnet for nails, and photograph the finished work. On a qualifying GAF roof, GAF requires us, as your certified contractor, to register your warranty within 45 days of installation. That's on us, not you.
Who you'll work with
Brothers is a family business, and it's run like one. Bill has spent more than 25 years in roofing. On a replacement, our approach is to recommend a full tear-off rather than roofing over the old layer, check and repair the deck before anything new goes on, and give the details that cause many leaks, the flashing, valleys and pipe boots, proper attention.
More than roofing
A lot of exterior problems are connected. A failing gutter rots the fascia and soaks the siding below it, and an old roof often comes due around the same time as the windows and siding. Because we handle all of it, one visit can look at the whole outside of your home:
- Roofing: replacement, repair, inspection and storm damage
- Siding and windows and doors
- Gutters and chimney repair
- Porches, patios and decks, concrete and hardscaping
- Interior and exterior painting
Storm damage and insurance
After hail or a wind storm, we'll inspect the roof and photograph any damage, so you have documentation to give your insurance company. We don't file, handle or negotiate insurance claims. That stays between you and your insurer. If you'd like us there when the adjuster visits, we're glad to be, so we can show them what we found.

Warranties
Brothers backs its own installation work with a workmanship warranty of up to 10 years; the length for your job is stated in your contract. On a qualifying GAF roof, GAF's System Plus Limited Warranty covers GAF's own products. Read what each one covers.
