Your GAF Roof Warranty
Here's a plain-English look at the warranty on a qualifying GAF roof, what it covers, and what you and Brothers each need to do.
What Brothers can offer
Brothers Roofing and Construction is a 2026 GAF Certified Residential Roofing Contractor (GAF ID #1107159). That means a qualifying roof we install can carry the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty -- an enhanced warranty that comes from GAF itself.
This is different from a Brothers workmanship warranty -- GAF's System Plus warranty covers defects in GAF's own products, not installation work. Ask Brothers directly about our own workmanship coverage.
What qualifies a roof
To qualify for the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty, a roof needs:
- A GAF Lifetime shingle, installed by a GAF certified contractor
- At least 3 of these GAF accessories: Starter Strip, Ridge Cap, Roof Deck Protection, Leak Barrier, and Attic Ventilation (Cobra or Master Flow)
A roof that uses GAF Lifetime shingles with these accessories also automatically carries GAF's Roofing System Limited Warranty -- no registration needed for that one.
What it covers
Against manufacturing defects in the GAF products used on your roof:
- Lifetime coverage for as long as you, the original owner(s), own your single-family home (a different owner or building type gets 40 years, with the first 20 non-prorated)
- 50 years, non-prorated -- GAF pays the reasonable labor to repair or re-cover, and supplies the replacement products, including tear-off and disposal when needed
- 15 years of wind coverage, and algae-discoloration coverage on StainGuard-labeled shingles (30 years on StainGuard Plus PRO)
What it does not cover
- Workmanship or installation errors -- that's between you and Brothers directly, never GAF
- Hail, fire, and wind above the shingle's rated speed -- that's usually a homeowner's insurance matter
- Damage caused by poor attic ventilation, or by anything other than a defect in the GAF products
Registration: what Brothers does, and what you can expect
GAF requires Brothers, as your certified contractor, to register your System Plus warranty within 45 days of your roof being installed -- that's on us, not you, and our office tracks every roof against that deadline. GAF then sends your warranty directly. Under GAF's terms, the warranty takes effect once it is registered and the roof has been paid for in full. If 60 days pass after your roof is finished and you haven't received it, call GAF at 1-888-532-5767, option 5.
Selling your home
The warranty can transfer once. The new owner has to notify GAF in writing within 1 year of buying the home (email warrantytransfers@gaf.com with proof of ownership). A transfer within the first 20 years keeps the same coverage; after 20 years, it drops to 2 years, prorated.
If you ever need to make a claim
Tell GAF within 30 days of noticing a problem -- at gaf.com/claims, by calling 1-800-458-1860, or by emailing warrantyclaims@gaf.com. Telling Brothers about a problem is not the same as telling GAF, so make sure GAF hears from you directly, and please don't repair the roof yourself before GAF has had a chance to look at it (doing so can void your claim).
